ReplyDeleteYep there's a creepy factor going on here.. but would make a great Halloween moon, maybe make him really yellow or orange for the occasion.

ReplyDeleteI always thought it was a BEARD (think Col. Sanders)... but with your higher-res original, there, I am now able to recognize the 'lower lip' as TEETH... maybe it was one of those clever cards where it was a smiling moon face (like your edited version, above) and then pulling down on a tab somewhere would make the tongue come down, with the message...
ReplyDeleteOh Karen, I'm sure this looks just like the moon man in the movie "Hugo" (recently out on DVD). If you haven't seen it, is a fantastic family movie. Lots of old world/antique setting in Europe. One of my sons just told me he was searching something on the internet, and the old movie they made in the Hugo movie was an ACTUAL French movie that really existed. Would be interesting if this postcard depicted that old movie!

ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous and quite unusual! Many people have recommended "Hugo" to us as well. We still need to check it out. I think this moonman is funny!

ReplyDeleteKaren -I love this creepy moon face that says "Happy New Year" in French. Thanks for giving us three versions. I do think that the original just maybe my New Year's card for next year! Perfect for a year with "13" in its name!
