This is another pretty little bird graphic from an old Children's Encyclopedia! I'm not sure what type of Bird it is, the book is in German, the word was Meife and when I ran it through Google Translate it came up with Meif, and I could be wrong... but I don't think that's it! Can any of my German readers tell us what a Meife is? Either way he's really cute!

What a beautiful bird! Love him at first sight! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was an old german script or? Because the old s looks quite like a nowadays f :)
It is a "Meise" in german or this specific one is a "Kohlmeise" (Parus major) which would be the "Great tit" in english.
Sometimes my studies in biology pay off ^^

ALWAYS love the bird posts! Also, am eternally appreciative of the extra choices on your posts, such as removing the backgrounds and wording. You are one dedicated fairy to your followers!
ReplyDeleteAnne from France,
ReplyDeleteIn French this bird is called
a "mésange" and there are all
sorts of "mésange" (mésange bleue,
mésange charbonnière ...).
I have a lot here and their song
is lovely. In winter, I use to
give them peanuts (not salted).
Amicalement.
Thanks for the adorable little bird. He is so cute! c.

ReplyDeleteA nature photograph in background side makes very attractive and beautiful bird. Same these bird I seen in my garden also. It is very small bird in my garden bird 's book.
ReplyDeleteHe is not a blåmeis, that is a blue tit. He is the blue tit's bigger cousin, talgoxe in swedish, kjøttmeis in norwegian, great tit in english, latin Parus Major, as someone pointed out. The blue tit is smaller and has a clear blue "hat" on.
