Thursday is Request Day - More Sewing, Pencil, Star Map, Church Organ, Guitar, Clothes Pin

Once again, it's Thursday so that means it's request day here at TGF!

Here's what I found for you this week:

I had another request for sewing images from DJ Rose. I found the image above, of a Mother doing some mending in an old children's book.

A little while back, Brenda was hoping for a # 2 pencil. I didn't find a # 2, but I did find a #395, I hope that will work!

Lauren was wishing for a Star Map graphic for her Grandfather who was in the British Navy, I believe. The one you see above is for the month of October.

Kate had a request for Church Organ Pipes graphic, to use for her Church, as a thank you for the funds raised to repair the Church organ. I couldn't resist that request, I hope you can use this Kate!

Now I know someone asked me for a drawing of a Guitar, but I can't find the name I'm afraid! This one is actually a circa 1850s engraving, but it has sort of a hand drawn look to it.

And lastly Jenny had been looking for vintage clothes pin clip art. Oddly enough I searched all over for this one last week, and then this week when I was searching for something else it popped up! That's how it goes sometimes. This image comes from a 1915 magazine.

Well, that's all for this week. Do you have a request for an image? If so please leave it here in the comments section of my Request Day post, and then check back on Thursday to see if I found your requested image (Sorry but I can't fill every request, I usually pick a few each week). Each week I go back and check under my Thursday posts to find what your looking for, it's so much easier for me that way. I'm afraid I'm a very disorganized Fairy, so please, please please Do Not email requests to me, I most likely will loose it if you do. So sorry but I'm a complete mess when it comes to email! I'm afraid they're just aren't enough hours in the day to answer them all, and then I feel horribly guilty.

P.S. Don't forget to use the search box here on my blog, you might find that the image you want is already here!

Stunning French Ephemera Graphic

How gorgeous is this?!!! This is another one from sweet Sylvie in France, at La Miette Bricole. This gorgeous antique invoice belonged to her Grandmother. Collage and mixed media artists will no doubt love this piece of Ephemera, in it's original form, but I've included a black and white version of the header portion for those of you that use transfers for pillows and such. It would also make a great label for a Jar!

In other news: One of the questions I get asked the most on my other blog, Backgroundfairy.com is "How can I add my own text to my Blog Banner or Header?". Today I'm so proud to be able to answer that question via an amazing Video Tutorial by Kayla Lamoreaux. You can go HERE to view it.

Vintage Clip Art - Girl with Old Fashioned Telephone

This is a sweet old photo, of a girl using a very old looking telephone. I don't think I've ever seen a phone like that one before! I've included two versions for you to play with, the original and one in blue.

And speaking of telephones.... I've been selected as a Blogher compensated LG Text-Ed Ambassador, much to the shock of my family, and especially my teen step daughter, the queen of texting, who responded with, "Are you serious?! You can't even text!". Truthfully, I can text a tiny bit, I'm just a little slow. At any rate, lucky for the people at LG, I don't need to know how to text, Blogher has people for that... smart experienced texting type people, who will be doing the actual teaching, and I get the fancy title! So anyway here's, the scoop. This is a great program for parents of kids that text message. The program helps to educate parents about texting and about various ways to combat negative behaviors, like bullying, gossip and sharing inappropriate content. Each week for the next 6 weeks, a different topic will be covered. This week's topic is "Mobile Meanness". There will be five posts written each week about the topic of the week. And here's the great news, for each comment left on each post, a $.50 donation will be made to the wonderfully good people at DoSomething.org. (which is a great site about getting teens involved with volunteering)!!! You can see read all of the posts HERE and leave any questions that you might have, or your own expert advice for those of you that have dealt with this issue.

Full Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.

Spooky Halloween Project Printable

I was playing around today with the image that you see below, an 1880's ad for artificial eyes, and it occurred to me that this would be a fast and fun Halloween project!

Click HERE for the PDF printable download for the Sepia Toned Eyeballs

Click HERE for the PDF printable download for the Black and White Eyeballs

After printing out the eyeball pages, (I printed two copies so that I could have matching eyeballs for each art piece) I just cut out the eyes and taped them over the glass of various portraits in my home.

For Abe's eyes, I even colored in a few red lines with a pen, to make them look a bit bloodshot, although you can't really see it in the photo.

This was so fun and easy to do. This would be a great project to do with the kids, if you don't have antique art in your home, you can do the same technique with family photos (just makes sure there is glass covering the image, so you don't damage the original)! I've included two versions of the Eyeballs, the sepia version would look great framed as an Instant Art piece too!

Fabulous French Ephemera Clip Art

Isn't this wonderful?!! This gorgeous French Ephemera clip art comes straight from France, thanks to reader Sylvie at La Miette Bricole. This appears to be some sort of certificate, it belonged to Sylvie's grandmother. I adore the torn edge on the original scan! I've included a second version in black and white, in case you want to use it on a transfer project. Thanks Sylvie!

Vintage Clip Art - 2 Fancy Chairs

Today I'm sharing these 2 clip art images of some very ornate chairs! The chairs were made in Vienna, they come from an old 1850's catalog. These would be fun for transfer projects, like towels, and pillows, and as someone recently suggested in the comments, great for sachets too! I hope you like these Fancy chairs.

Vintage Clip Art - Pretty Victorian Scrap Girl

This is another one of those pretty Victorian scrap girls, you may recall her pink sister from HERE. These are so much fun for collage, but also would work well as a little paper doll, just add a paper or fabric skirt!

In other news: I've posted a new background on my other blog at backgroundfairy.com. This one is done in crisp black and white, with a touch of pale gray.
