vintage bird nest with eggs illustrationClick on image to enlarge

This is another one of the pretty bird's nests, from the nest and egg series that I have been sharing lately. This nest belongs to a Green Finch, according to the back of the card. I like the pretty wild pink Roses on this one. You can find more nests in this series HERE.

Brag Monday - Lavender Sachets & Vintage Bottles

It's time for Brag Monday #36! Once again I'm bragging about a couple more projects from last week's Brag Monday party.

Today I'm bragging about these darling sachets made by Clara & Marcela over at CottageCharm and Family Inspiration. Don't they look lovely displayed all together! These ladies used several graphics from this site to make the sachets, including the Fancy Teapots images found HERE.

I'm also bragging about these great looking "vintage" bottles, created by Rebekah at All Thingz Related! Rebekah used several images from this site for this project, including the Apothecary label images found HERE. Can you believe her "vintage" bottles are actually modern vinegar bottles? What a great look!

Now it's your turn! Have you made something from an image here at The Graphics Fairy that you would like to share? Or do you have a favorite image from here that you would like to share on your blog? Don't be shy, we want to see it!! It's time to brag! You might even be featured on a future Brag Monday post. Just add a link below in the McLinky box and make sure you link back, so everyone can play!

Crafty Project - Pretty Ballerina Cake / Display Stand

This weeks Crafty Project is a very sweet Ballerina Cake / Display stand!

I used the image that you see above for this project. You can click HERE to grab it.

This paper mache box and wooden candle holder were the basis for this project.

I've included a supply list and instructions below:

Supply List:

1) Printed copy of the image shown above.

2)Mod Podge (I used matte finish)

3)Mod Podge Dimensional Magic

4)Round Paper Mache box lid (around 8")

5)Wooden Candle Stick
(around 7")

6)Paintbrush

7)Glitter

8)Strong Household Glue (Like Goop or Gorilla Glue)

9)White paint

10)Scissors or knife

Step 1)
Using the lid for the paper mache box, draw scallops around the entire edge. I used a lid from some fish food as a template.

Step 2) Using a knife or scissors cut out around the scallops. Be careful!

Step 3)Paint the wooden candle holder. I did a couple of coats and let dry in between.

Step 4) Paint the lid and allow to dry.

Step 5) Print up the image above and then using your lid as a template, draw around your image and cut out. (Make sure you have it centered)

Step 6) Adhere the image to the lid using Mod Podge. Alow to dry. Then apply a top coat, or two, with Mod Podge. Let it dry.
Step 7) Apply the Dimensional glue anywhere that you would like to add some sparkle.

Step 8)Sprinkle on the glitter. Yay! My favorite part!!

Step 9) When it's thoroughly dry you can glue the top to the base using a strong household glue or epoxy. Let dry according to instructions on your glue bottle. ( I removed the metal candle cup using pliers first, you may not need to depending on how deeply it's set into the candle holder.)

All done and soooo pretty!

I probably wouldn't recommend serving a cake on this, but it's great for displaying jewelry!

Vintage Clip Art - Horse Racing Men

vintage printable image horse raceClick on image to enlarge

I think this is an interesting looking print! These appear to be 3 Men in some type of Horse Race. This one comes from a circa 1880's book. It think it might work well for a Father's Day card or project.
Update: I've been told by a few readers that this is called "Harness Racing" or "Trotting".

In other news: If you like old things, you might want to go HERE to see a glimpse of the Antique Market that I went to last weekend. Some of the images that I have been posting this week, came from that market.

Today we have a lovely young woman, so fashionably dressed, enjoying a stroll around the garden. The scene makes me think of England, perhaps there is a beautiful manor home behind her, you can just see a small glimpse of it.

Antique Clip Art - Lovely Pink Ballerina

This is another pretty ballerina image for you to play with in your art! This one isn't as large as some of the others, but it should still work in smaller projects. Her pink costume with the laced up bodice is so pretty, don't you think?!

Thursday is Request Day - Triplets, End Paper, Oranges, Key Hole

Once again, it's Thursday so that means it's request day here at TGF!

Here's what I found for you this week:

Above are some darling Triplets requested by anonymous reader. So sweet! I love their coats and their buckets.

This is a lovely green end paper from an antique book. This one was another anonymous request.

Caity requested some oranges. I found this fun diagram in old Dictionary.

And I had another anonymous request for a key hole. This one is quite ornate with beautiful Swans and flowers.

Well, that's all for this week. Do you have a request for an image? If so please leave it here in the comments section of my Request Day post, and then check back on Thursday to see if I found your requested image (Sorry but I can't fill every request, I usually pick a few each week). Each week I go back and check under my Thursday posts to find what your looking for, it's so much easier for me that way. I'm afraid I'm a very disorganized Fairy, so please, please please Do Not email requests to me, I most likely will loose it if you do. So sorry but I'm a complete mess when it comes to email! I'm afraid they're just aren't enough hours in the day to answer them all, and then I feel horribly guilty.

P.S. Don't forget to use the search box here on my blog, you might find that the image you want is already here!
