Vintage Clip Art - Old London Guide Book

This is an old London guide book from my collection. I think it's just the loveliest looking little book and I thought perhaps you could use some of it's parts in your art. Above you can see the title page with it's wonderful typography, dog eared corner and handwriting from a previous owner.

This is the gorgeous red cover with gilded letters!

Here is the spine.

And this of course, is the back of the book. If you or a friend of yours, is by chance going to London for a trip, you could make a lovely journal with these pieces!

Thursday is Request Day - Lady Liberty, Astrology, Bench, U.S. Map

Once again, it's Thursday so that means it's request day here at TGF!

Here's what I found for you this week:

Amelia Jo
wanted something 4th of July related. Hopefully this Lady Liberty will do.

Girl from the N. Country requested some Astrology Symbols, these come from an old Almanac.

Lynn was hoping for a Porch Swing. This was as close as I could come up with for now. A wonderful Faux Bois Bench.

And lastly, One Blessed Mama was wishing for a vintage map of the U.S. for her son's room. This one comes from an old Geography book.

Well, that's all for this week. Do you have a request for an image? If so please leave it here in the comments section of my Request Day post, and then check back on Thursday to see if I found your requested image (Sorry but I can't fill every request, I usually pick a few each week). Each week I go back and check under my Thursday posts to find what your looking for, it's so much easier for me that way. I'm afraid I'm a very disorganized Fairy, so please, please please Do Not email requests to me I most likely will loose it. So sorry but I'm a complete mess when it comes to email! I'm afraid they're just aren't enough hours in the day to answer them all, and then I feel horribly guilty.

P.S. Don't forget to use the search box here on my blog, you might find that the image you want is already here!

Vintage Clip Art - Request Day - Part 1

Well, it's been a little crazy around here in Fairy Land this week, so I'm still working on some of the requests. I'm posting one now, and I will post more later this evening.
This request was from Allie who wanted some Jewels. I was so glad she made this request as I have had this print for over a year now and had forgotten about it, until she jogged my memory. It took me awhile to find it, but here it is and isn't it a gem (haha)! You will probably need to click on the bottom image several times to get the largest size, I scanned this at a larger size than usual so that you can see all the lovely details. If you look closely at the description you can see there is quite a variety here including the Hope diamond, a yellow diamond, pearl, ruby, emerald, quartz etc.

Antique Clip Art - Early Italian Ephemera

This is another really wonderful piece from my dear Italian friend Daniela at Verde Salvia. This is a wonderful early piece of Ephemera from Italy. I did a small amount of clean up on it, but I left a lot of the aged patina, because it just has so much character! I adore the little cherub and the birds as well as the fabulous European typography. I'm not sure what this was for, it would have made sense to ask Daniela before I posted it, but I didn't think of it until now!

In other news: Today is the last day to enter my giveaway click HERE to enter. I'll announce the winner tomorrow!

Brag Monday - Mother's Day Card & Tin Theater Toy

It's time for Brag Monday #31! Today I'm bragging about 2 more projects from last week's Brag Monday party.

First I'm bragging about this very pretty Marie Antoinette Mother's Day card, created by Frenchy at Le Chateau Des Fleurs. Be sure and check out her blog, she's even included a tutorial so you can make one yourself! The image used is this Marie Antoinette image found HERE .

Next, I'm bragging about Cindy from Recovery Artist She created this super adorable Theater in a Tin toy! You really must click on the link to see the fabulous front and back of the tin as well. She made this along with a little story and some tiny ballerina's, as a child's toy. Wouldn't this be great for traveling!! Cindy used the French Theatre image found HERE.

Now it's your turn! Have you made something from an image here at The Graphics Fairy that you would like to share? Or do you have a favorite image from here that you would like to share on your blog? Don't be shy, we want to see it!! It's time to brag! You might even be featured on a future Brag Monday post. Just add a link below in the McLinky box.

Here are just a few rules:

1)
Artwork/creations or graphics displayed must include at least one image from this site. (Pssst - you can link to an old post if you like, so check back in your archives)

2)
Add a link to your items specific blog post (in the McLinky gizmo at the bottom of this post) or page, not the main page of your site.
3) Link to this post,
by either adding the "Brag Monday" button to your post. ( Just cut and paste the code above and add it to your post and the button should appear) or just add a link. (This is required and should make things more fun, so that we can all hop around and see every one's creations!) You could also add the button to your sidebar if you like.

4)Test your link
and make sure it's working! If your link gets deleted, it's because you missed one of the rules, so just reread them and post again!
5)Visit
as many of the other "Braggers" ;) as you can and leave comments on their blogs. Oh yeah, and have fun!
I'll leave the MckLinky open until early Tuesday morning so that gives you a little extra time to put something together if you don't already have something to share!

I'm trying out the new Thumbnail Linky today, now you can add your photos to the list too! ( Update -The linky appears to be working again now, thanks for you patience!)

Vintage Clip Art - Bird Engraving - Thrush

Here's a pretty little bird! This came out of an old book about Birds and Bird Feed. This little guy is a Thrush. Oddly enough when I scanned this it came out purple the first time, even though it's actually a black and white image! I decided to share the purple image too, I think the color is quite nice. It reminds me of that Mulberry tone you find on antique Transferware pieces.

New Flickr Group!

Well I finally got around to making a Flickr group! I get quite a few emails from readers wanting to show off their artwork using images from my blog. Not all of them have blogs so they can't participate in "Brag Monday". I though this would be a great solution to that. I would love to see what you have made using my images, you might even get chosen for a feature here on The Graphics Fairy. I hope you'll join me over there!

P.S. My friend Cathe made the darling Flickr button above. They're free on her blog, if you need one, and she has all different colors! Thanks Cathe!

Vintage Clip Art - Beauty and the Beast

My husband and I were out shopping at our favorite "antique & used" book store today. I didn't find much, but I did get this pretty antique children's book. After I paid for it, my husband asked me what I got. I told him it was a book about us. Then I showed him the cover... he wasn't amused. I on the other hand thought it was hilarious and got a good chuckle out of it all the way back to the car! Anyway, I hope you like this brightly colored cover of "Beauty and the Beast".

It's time for yet another graphic in my weekly series "Spencerian Saturday"!!! Every Saturday I add another gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book.

The original scanned version of this cute pen flourished Dog with children, is seen just above, and at the very top of the page, is the cleaned up version. What do you think, is the Dog a Lab?

Vintage Clip Art - Lobster Card

This is a cute little card that I picked up a while back at my local antique mall. I just love the bright red Lobster and the funny egg garnish! The original has the words "Happy New Year" written on it, but I thought this was a fun card for the Summer too, so I'm offering a version without the writing. It would make a great place card for a dinner party! Or a cute tag to go on a hostess gift.
