Brag Monday - Amazing Lamp Shade & French Kitchen Sack

It's time for Brag Monday #23! Today I'm bragging about 2 more projects from last week's Brag Monday party. And wow you guys really made it tough to narrow it down this time!

First I'm bragging about Clara & Marcela from Nice and Easy Antiques. These fabulously talented ladies created this stunning lamp shade using the Vintage bird image found HERE.

Next I'm bragging about the very clever and creative Marie from Lost Bird Studio! Marie created this wonderful kitchen sack, using a vintage Paris label graphic found HERE.

Now it's your turn! Have you made something from an image here at The Graphics Fairy that you would like to share? Or do you have a favorite image from here that you would like to share on your blog? Don't be shy, we want to see it!! It's time to brag! You might even be featured on a future Brag Monday post. Just add a link below in the McLinky box.

Here are just a few rules:

1)
Artwork/creations or graphics displayed must include at least one image from this site. (Pssst - you can link to an old post if you like, so check back in your archives)

2)
Add a link to your items specific blog post (in the McLinky gizmo at the bottom of this post) or page, not the main page of your site.

3) Link to this post,
by either adding the "Brag Monday" button to your post. ( Just cut and paste the code above and add it to your post and the button should appear) or just add a link. (This is required and should make things more fun, so that we can all hop around and see every one's creations!) You could also add the button to your sidebar if you like.

4)Test your link
and make sure it's working! If your link gets deleted, it's because you missed one of the rules, so just reread them and post again!

5)Visit
as many of the other "Braggers" ;) as you can and leave comments on their blogs. Oh yeah, and have fun!

I'll leave the MckLinky open until early Tuesday morning so that gives you a little extra time to put something together if you don't already have something to share!

Vintage Clip Art - Garden Lady

Today I had a comment from a very nice reader named Nancy. Nancy has been desperately searching for an image of someone digging in a garden. I think this is pretty close, although it's really more of a farm... but garden sounds so much more romantic... don't you think? Anyway this one is not from my personal collection, but it is a public domain image all the same. I hope you can use this one Nancy!

Free Antique Clip Art - Pen Flourished Bird with Nest

It's time for yet another graphic in my weekly series "Spencerian Saturday"!!! Every Saturday I add another gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book.

The original scanned version of this delightful pen flourished bird with nest, is seen just above, and at the very top of the page, is a version I made just for fun, in lime green.

This one is a cleaned up version of the original. This would be so great to use for wedding invitations, save the date cards, or place setting cards!

Free Vintage Clip Art - Tea Cup Trade Card

Love this!!! This is a wonderful antique trade card for a Tea Store. The card is die cut and shaped like a tea cup and saucer. I'm offering 2 versions, the original at the top and a second version with the wording removed so that you can add your own. This would make a darling invitation or a super cute gift tag! It could also work well for your Alice in Wonderland themed projects.

Free Vintage Clip Art - Typewriters

These are some really fun old typewriter graphics from pre 1920 ladies magazines! I've included three cleaned up versions at the top and two of the original versions at the bottom. I included only the original versions that had fun typography, in case you would prefer to use those.

Need some ideas on how to use these? Check out Pam's blog at Bibbidi Bobbidi Beautiful, to see the Pottery Barn inspired canvas art pieces she made. She used some other graphics from this site, but these typewriters would work just as well. You could use them in a home office. She has a great tutorial too!

Free Vintage Clip Art - Colorful Bird

Here's another one of the 1830's bird prints. This one is very colorful, I love his green and blue feathers! His caption is "Roller", I've never heard of this type of bird before. His expression looks a bit sneaky, don't you think?!

In other news: Today I added the 3 column version of one of my more popular backgrounds, the Aqua & Brown Damask Background. You can see it at my other blog Backgroundfairy.com.

Thursday is Request Day - Bees, Knitting & Baby Carriages

Here's what appears to be an oddly random set of images. However, I've received quite a few requests lately and I thought it would be fun to do a request day! So if you would like to see a particular type of image here, please add your request to the comment section of this post, and I'll select a few to post next Thursday.

Now here's a little info about the requested images that I posted today. At the top of the page are some Honey Bees from an early agricultural book. Next we have a lovely knitting lady with her darling kitten. This image is from a circa 1917 Women's magazine. And lastly we have a very sweet little baby carriage. One word of caution about the baby carriage image. This one was published in 1927 in a booklet about caring for your baby. I cannot be 100% sure that this one is in the public domain, since it was published after 1923. However there is a very good chance that the copyright would not have been renewed since this information would have been out of date, including info on diseases that babies no longer get due to vaccines. If this was not renewed then it would fall into the public domain.

There is so much about this quirky little antique trade card that really speaks to me! I love the bright happy colors, the giant egg, the funny little cherub and the pretty Pussy Willow branches!

And then there's the back of the card... oh my the back... what's not to love about that! Gorgeous sepia toned antique patina, fabulous typography and the subject matter is so charming. I wish I could go to that Spring Opening, I would scoop up loads of the delightful millinery items and of course the "Fancy Goods" too! You can never have to many Fancy Goods, now can you?

It was this superb Natural History print from the 1840s! And on it were these stunning vintage Moths, done in the dreamiest palette of creams and browns and whites, and a hint of yellow.

I love the top of it too! It says Nocturnes in the most amazing typography. Perfect for those vampire collages! I hope you love it too!

Brag Monday - Beautiful Bird Cards & Mad Hatter Invite

It's time for Brag Monday #22! Today I'm bragging about 3 more projects from last week's Brag Monday party!

Last week two talented readers made their own version of a card featuring the same bird, you can find the bird image HERE. I thought I would show them both, since they are so different but equally lovely.

The very pretty one you see at the top was made by The Gypsy Magpie.

And this beautiful version was made by Jacqueline at My Scrap Basket.

And then going in a different direction, we have this really fun "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" invitation, artfully created by Jax and Jewels. They used the vintage sheet music graphic found HERE.
