Today I'm posting a project of sorts. I've been acquiring some wonderful early prints lately, mainly Natural History, Botanicals and such. These images print out so beautifully, and can really look like the real deal. I'm starting a new category called INSTANT ART, so that you can find the images more easily. And I will be sharing some ideas from time to time on how to display them in your home, as well. The images are so perfect for anyone that loves DIY, for decorators or designers, for shopkeepers displays etc. If you love the look of beautiful antique prints, but don't want to spend the price, then this series is just for you!! And you don't even need to be Crafty to use them!

So for the first designer look in this series, I'm going with a Fall theme. You can click HERE for the Full Size Printable PDF , of the darling Antique Squirrel image above , and print it out. For the best results use good quality matte photo paper and use your "Best" setting on your printer.
Antique books are all the rage right now in decorating so I grabbed some vintage books (nothing rare or special, just cheap ones from your local thrift store will do) and tore off the covers. I trimmed the image with scissors and then glued it to the front of the book, and then just wrapped some jute twine around. I used 3 more cover-less books as accents, and wrapped them with twine as well. That's it! Now you have a great decorator look for pennies! And if you don't like Squirrels, you can always swap out a different print from the Instant Art collection. I hope you enjoy this new collection, there will be many more prints to come!

What a great idea to make us visualize how a project would look like. Your findings are very exquisite.

ReplyDeleteThis is great ... for us who aren't very lucky at antique malls and flea markets. I never find anything!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteGoing to use the art for journaling but I love the idea of using it as an artful book cover!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, I love squirrels!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteOh--I love this for fall-so cute and clever and I know people will love the DIY projects!
I got so excited to read your message...guess what I've been doing all day...been at craft stores get stuff to make a large burlap collection...(I thought you'd be surprised to see the tag made out of the latest graphic you put on Friday!) I mounted the tags on grunge board so they'd be stiff. At the moment, I've got burlap all over me--what a mess to work with..lol
I am SOOO excited that you are putting the bracelet on--I am doing the dance of joy! Thank you so much! You should see all the things that I made for each month (for the winner of each month's creative spirit challenge using that little girl image.) I made them for the challenges through February...worked ahead! And one is an evening purse--can't wait for you to see it!
I'll link up in the morning. Have a nice evening.
Hugs,
Cindy
Gorgeous idea! Ringtail possums or koalas would work well for us Aussies.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Karen!

This is just wonderful! Thanks for the idea and the graphic.
ReplyDeleteI am always searching for old books like this! But they are getting rare (and they should be not in the best state otherwise it is difficult for me to do something with them ^^). This print is really a great one, thanks for sharing :) I will certainly use it!
ReplyDeleteI am excited about your new series. I love all the projects you post! Thanks for another beautiful idea!
