Old Photo Postcard Image - Precious little Girl

I thought I would give you "something sweet" this evening to balance out the "something creepy" that I posted earlier today! This old photo postcard features a darling little girl, with the prettiest face! I love how her eyes are glancing towards the side, it reminds me of the old Googly eyed dolls. So cute!

Vintage Clip Art - Creepy Skull with Crown - Halloween

Here's a super spooky image! This is from an antique German book, it's an old printers ornament for the letter D. The ornament features a creepy looking Skull with an envelope in it's mouth and a tall crown on it's head. This one's probably not for everyone, but it might work well for Halloween!

Vintage Clip Art - Beautiful Fairy Queen

I was so thrilled to open the mail today and find this gorgeous advertising piece for a Sewing Machine company!! This piece has the loveliest Fairy on it, with a flowing sash, and a golden crown! It's getting harder and harder to find beautiful Fairy images, and this one is particularly lovely and so fun that she's taking her Butterfly pet out for a walk? or a fly?! I've included an additional version of the Fairy extracted from the background, in case you would like to use her on her own.

Antique Parrot Image Download - Instant Art

Click HERE for the full size PDF Download

This is another one for the new Instant Art series! This is a gorgeous antique print of a wonderful Parrot on a branch. The print was done by George Shaw and dates to 1811. Quite old! I'm showing you another Instant Art display idea today. This time after printing the image, I trimmed it and then placed it under a cloche. I added a tiny nest and a couple of wooden eggs, and then used some beautiful Antique books as props. It makes a great centerpiece for a table!

And if you don't care for Parrots, you can always select a different image from the Instant Art Series, and use this same display idea.

Vintage Ephemera Clip Art - Amazing Sheet Music Frame

Aren't these fabulous!!! This is a stunning antique sheet music cover for an Irish Ballad from an antique music book! This piece has gorgeous engraved green flowers and the most amazing frame. I've included the original at the top of the page, but I also removed the typography so that you can use the frame by itself, for whatever you like. I've made a second version in brown sepia tones, perfect for your Fall projects or collages.

Victorian Clip Art - Funny Baby on Scale

This funny little baby is an image from an 1880's wholesale pharmacy catalog. This was an advertisement for a hanging scale. Wouldn't this be cute on a baby shower invitation? I think it would also be fun to remove the scale and replace it with an image of a Stork! I'll have to see if I have any Storks around here that I can post for you guys.

Vintage Clip Art - Hourglass - Steampunk

Hourglass image steampunkClick on images to enlarge

Some of my favorite books are the old children's "Readers", as they were called in the old days. I have several of them that date to before the Civil War, and they have such charming illustrations in them! Anyway, this cute Hourglass image is from one of those books. I've included the original sepia toned version with the wording and all, as well as a black and white version. This is a fun one to use in your Steampunk collages or mixed media art pieces!

Vintage Clip Art - Cute Chicken with Mail

This is a fun antique die cute card! The card is a beautifully illustrated Chicken, I'm not sure if it's a Hen or a Rooster, I'll let you decide! What I love about this one is the little card in it's beak. You could use this as a label or a sign and write something on the white area. It might even make a cute cupcake topper, for a Farm themed party!

Thursday is Request Day - Pig, Birds with Nest, Wheat, Ladybug, Lighthouses, Grandma

Once again, it's Thursday so that means it's request day here at TGF!

Here's what I found for you this week:

Sandy B asked for a cute pig. The one above comes from a Victorian children's game.

Annie was hoping for a Woodcut image of Birds with a Nest. I have to confess, I'm not positive if the one above is a woodcut or not, but the book it came from dates to the early 1860's so I think there's a good chance that it is. Either way it's very sweet, don't you think?

Bonnie requested sheaths of wheat. So far all I found was a sprig of wheat ( hmm ...does wheat come in sprigs?). I think it's gorgeous though and could be a highly useful image. I'll keep looking for sheaths Bonnie!

Mares had a wish for a Ladybird or Ladybug. I thought this one would be super easy to come up with, but I'm afraid I'm sadly lacking in the Ladybug department. I did find this one in an old newspaper and I colored her a bit. I will continue to look for more of these as well, hopefully one that's a bit more colorful will turn up!

Teri had hopes for some nautical images. I came up with this trio of cute Lighthouses from an antique dictionary.

And lastly Linda was hoping for a graphic of a Grandmother and a baby. I found this 1920's photo in an old baby book. Grandma looks pleased as punch, but the baby looks a wee bit grumpy!

Well, that's all for this week. Do you have a request for an image? If so please leave it here in the comments section of my Request Day post, and then check back on Thursday to see if I found your requested image (Sorry but I can't fill every request, I usually pick a few each week). Each week I go back and check under my Thursday posts to find what your looking for, it's so much easier for me that way. I'm afraid I'm a very disorganized Fairy, so please, please please Do Not email requests to me, I most likely will loose it if you do. So sorry but I'm a complete mess when it comes to email! I'm afraid they're just aren't enough hours in the day to answer them all, and then I feel horribly guilty.

P.S. Don't forget to use the search box here on my blog, you might find that the image you want is already here!

Old Paris Photo Postcard - Stunning Woman

Love this!! This is an old photo postcard, originally taken in Paris. The card features a very striking looking woman with amazing smoky eyes! The face on this beauty just really spoke to me. The original is at the top of the page, and as usual I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I decided to make a blue version of this vintage glamour girl, as well.

Vintage Image Download - Royal Crown

Here's another wonderful crown from he 1840's European Encyclopedia! This one appears to have fabric on the inside, velvet I would imagine, and fur trimmed around the base. Very regal looking! Just like the others I have enlarged the size so that you can use this in your home decorating or DIY projects, like towels, pillows, tote bags etc. You can find more crowns from this series HERE.
