This is a nice one for Memorial Day or 4th of July. This old picture shows a young girl wearing a patriotic costume, including a crown and a large American flag. Such nice sepia tones here!
during the american revolution the legal separation of the great britain occurred on july 2 1776 whem the second continental congress voted to aproved a resolution of independence that had beem proposed in june by richard henry lee of virginia after voting for independence congress turned its attention to the declaration independence a statement explaining this decision which had been prepared by a committe of five whit thomas jefferson as its principal author congress debated and revised the declaration finally aproving it on july 4 xoxo
I love your blog and visit it daily. I was surprised (to say the least) when I saw todays image of the young lady with the flag. I believe this photo came from a stereograph by F.G.Weller of Littleton, NH. He is the brother of my great-grandfather and the picture that you posted is of FG Weller's daughter, Fontinelle Weller.
Thanks for all the wonderful images that you post!
Hi Randall3, Oh, that's so interesting!! You are absolutely correct this is from an old stereograph card. The majority of my images come from my own collections, but occasionally I do use images from archived sources, this is one of those images. I generally clean them up a bit before posting to give my readers the best quality images possible, that's why you are seeing this as a single image. Thanks so much for your comment, and for the background info on your ancestor, dear little Fontinelle!
Charming image. But she has such an odd expression with a hint of a frown? Wonder what's going through her mind? But a lovely image and you're right, the sepia tones are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog! Although, I am not able to respond to all of the comments left here, please know that they are always appreciated!! Karen P.S. A note to SPAMMERS - Your comments will be deleted, you are wasting your own valuable time and mine.
Love this image!
