It's time for yet another graphic in my weekly series "Spencerian Saturday"!!! Every Saturday I add another gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book.

This one's a little different, in that it's actually appears to be an engraving and not pen flourished , but it was in the book so I'm sharing it anyway. I think he's quite a charming frog under his mushroom umbrella. Notice the pretty butterfly among the flowers at the top too!
I would love to know if you guys are getting tired of this series. I still have quite a few images to share from this book yet, but I can take a break from it for awhile if most of you would rather I mixed it up a bit on Saturdays. Please let me know what you think in the comments section. Thanks!

Nope, definitely not getting tired of these images, I love them, so please please please keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteI am normally not a frog person but this image is really sweet! Thank you for sharing. Petra.xx
ReplyDeleteI like seeing the pen-flourish series. Not sure, though, if I'm naming it correctly, but anyway, I find the idea of an artist enjoying working a pen so much that s/he is carried away drawing all those swoops and curlicues. So my vote would be to carry on with Saturdays as usual. And thank you, Karen, for diligently posting all these marvelous images! We treasure you.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these images...definitely not too many.

I love sooo many of the pieces of "art" that you share with us. I even drag my hubby over to look at many of them. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us in cyber land. I am shocked when I see others selling things that should be free cause there is no way I would pay a dime for them-lol

ReplyDeleteYes, I love the pen-fourish series. My Grandpa always drew like them so they have special significance to me. (He had no hands). But he drew them beautifully,

Don't stop. I used two of your Spencerian cupid images along with the Citra-Solv transfer technique to make a couple of sweet linen bed pillows. I would offer them up on Brag Mondays, but I don't have a blog.
