Pen Flourishing - Calligraphy Writing & Bird & Swan

Once again it's Spencerian Saturday!! The graphic I'm offering today is not from the same calligraphy book that I usually post about, this one is from a fabulous 1890's book about letter writing. I thought the black background was more appropriate for Halloween. I just love the old fashioned penmanship on this piece! Make sure you click on it to bring up the largest size.

Happy Halloween!!!

Free Halloween Clip Art - Orange and Black Bugs

I thought I would stick these creepy crawlies up for you today, in case you want to use them for your last minute Halloween projects! These are 3 interesting looking black and orange Beetles. I think these would be fun to make into a label for an antique bottle, you could label it Beetlejuice!

Free Antique Clip Art - French Tombstone Catalog

This is a very interesting piece of Ephemera. This one is an old French tombstone catalog, not something that you see everyday! It may be a bit of a stretch for Halloween, but I think it could be used in your Halloween collages. I love the texture and the typography of the original version at the top. I did make a second version for you of just the frame, because really you can never have too many clip art frames they are so useful! Make sure you click on both of them for the largest version!

If you have time, check out my other blog at Backgroundfairy.com to see the free Mulberry Damask Background with Bling that I just added today!

Free Vintage Clip Art - Angels & Sheet Music

Some beautiful Angels for your art! The one at the top is a printers ornament from an antique (1890's) book, of a pretty flying Angel holding a wreath. (The second one is the original version, I also made a green version for you as well.) The next 2 are engravings from an early (1808) book. This one shows a family meeting in heaven with 2 glorious Angels flying above them. I've included a second version without the family so that you can use the Angels for your holiday or Christmas projects. And lastly a lovely Angel themed piece of antique sheet music.

New Logo - New Buttons!

I've got new buttons and a new banner!!! Wahoo!! This is such an exciting day for me. Some time ago I hired the amazingly talented Cathe Holden of Just Something I Made to make a logo for me. I wanted something a little more professional looking. If you read my blog on a regular basis you probably know that Cathe's blog has the most fabulous craft projects and tutorials, but you may not know that she is actually a professional logo designer as well. She has designed logos for all kinds of businesses including Winerys, Schools, Beauty Salons, you name it! Her logos have even been featured in books showcasing the work of the finest Logo artists in the country. Yes, she is that good! You can see her work at her other site Home Grown Logos.
I hope you like my new pretty buttons and logo as much as I do! If you enjoy using the images from my site, I hope you will consider adding one of my new buttons to the sidebar of your blog. If you already have one of my older buttons on your blog, you can swap it out for the new one, if you like!

Easy instructions for adding my button to your blog:
1)First Right click on the button you want and Click "Save as" to save it onto your computer. (Remember where you put it, you will need this later)
2)Next when you are on your blog's main page click "Customize" in the upper right hand corner. (This will take you to the "Layout" page.)
3)You should see the words "Add and Arrange Elements" in bold. Simply look for "Add A Gadget" (in blue letters) and click on it.
4)Next Scroll down until you see "Picture" (it has a green tree next to it) and click on it.
5)Click the "Browse" button and go to the folder where you saved the image and select it.
6)In the link box add my address. www.thegraphicsfairy.com
7)Untick the "Shrink to fit" box (We don't need that!). And then hit the "Save" button.
8)That's it, your done! Thank you so much for adding my button!!

Craft Project - London Map Decor - DIY

This weeks project is a fun set of 3 framed map prints, from an antique Map of London.

The map came out of an antique London tour guide, that I actually rescued from the trash years ago.

I've included a supply list and instructions below:

Supply List:

1) Three 4" x 6" frames, I got mine at Ikea, they're called "Clips" and cost only .99 cents for 4 of them.

2)Krylon- UV - Resistant CLEAR or whatever brand you like (I got mine at Michaels crafts)

3)Scissors or a Paper Cutter

Step1:
Click on the images above to enlarge them, and then save to your computer. You will need to print them out at 4"x6" or at whatever size the frame is that you are using. (The files may take a few minutes to load, I made them quite large so that the quality will be super high for your art)

Step 2:
Spray the printed images with a UV protective spray in a Matte finish to protect it from fading. (This is optional, if you change your art out often you may not need to do this)

Step 3:
Cut out your images. I used a paper cutter but scissors are fine too.

The frames I used from Ikea are shown above. They are called "clips".

Step 4:
If you are using the "Clips" frames, punch the holes out of the cardboard backing before framing.

Step 4:
This is how the clips should look when you have them in place. This might be self explanatory to some but, there was no photo in the packaging and it took me awhile to figure out which way they went! The hole on the back of the metal clips, also works as a hanger for your nail.

All done! I hope you like this super easy cute project, these look great grouped together on a wall. They look even better in person than in the photo, it was getting late when I took these photos and the lighting was not ideal!

Brag Monday - Batty Lampshade & Keep Calm Art

Today I'm bragging about 2 participants from last week's Brag Monday party! I thought I would choose one creation for Halloween and one that can be used for everyday. Leanne from Organize and Decorate Everything made this adorable Batty Lampshade, using the bat image that I posted Here . Be sure and check out her site for the instructions on how to make this super easy project, that's sure to be a hit with the kids!

Next we have some very smart looking artwork from Kathy at Creative Home Expressions. Kathy is a certified interior designer and has loads of decorating tricks and tips to share with you on her blog, including instructions to make this easy and inexpensive art that you see above. She used the image found Here for her project.

Now it's your turn! Have you made something from an image here at The Graphics Fairy that you would like to share? Or do you have a favorite image from here that you would like to share on your blog? Don't be shy, we want to see it!! It's time to brag! You might even be featured on a future Brag Monday post. Just add a link below in the McLinky box.

Here are just a few rules:

1)Artwork/creations or graphics displayed must include at least one image (up to a maximum of 4 images) from this site.

2)Add a link to your items specific blog post (in the McLinky gizmo at the bottom of this post) or page, not the main page of your site.

3)Add the "Brag Monday" button to your post. Just cut and paste the code above and add it to your post and the button should appear, or you can use a regular text link if preferred. (This is required and should make things more fun, so that we can all hop around and see everyone's creations!) You could also add the button to your sidebar if you like.

4)Test your link and make sure it's working! If your link gets deleted, it's because you missed one of the rules, so just reread them and repost again!

5)Visit as many of the other "Braggers" ;) as you can and leave comments on their blogs. Oh, and have fun!

I'll leave the MckLinky open until Tuesday night so that gives you a little extra time to put something together if you don't already have something to share!

Free Vintage Clip Art - Cats, Dog and Shoes

This is a darling antique advertising trade card! This one features 2 Kittens in a pair of children's high top shoes, and a little Dog who's pulling the tail of one of the Kittys!! I've included the back of the card as well, as the typography is so much fun on this one.

If you get a chance stop by my other blog as well at backgroundfairy.com , to see the sweet bird banner/header that I just added today. It's free of course, and could also be used as a label or for scrapbooking!
