Free Vintage Clip Art - Fanciful Animals

Recently I came across the most charming children's book circa 1885, with the most adorable animal graphics in it!! I think you will agree these are truly delightful animals illustrations. The images include Bears and Fox and Lions, all having a wonderful time dancing, juggling and even blowing bubbles! I've cleaned the images up as best I could, some turned out better than others, as you'll see below.

I hope you enjoyed these charming images. Make sure you click on them to bring up the largest size!

In other news today, "Something big is happening" over at So Very Cheri's blog. I can't tell you what it is... heck I don't know what it is! But she will be announcing what "it" is tomorrow. So if you get a chance, stop by her blog tomorrow and see.

Free Halloween Printable - Trick or Treat Bag Label

You can go HERE to download the Printable PDF file

Today I'm offering this fun free Halloween printable label! (I created this label using a vintage Halloween image from this site. The moon and stars background is from an antique playing card.) You can print up this label and use it to decorate a plain bag for an instant Trick or Treat bag! (You'll actually get 2 labels per sheet, to save on paper!)

The super easy instructions are below!

Step one: Print out the Pdf file by clicking the link above. I used this white label paper from Avery which makes it super easy to peel and stick. But you can use plain paper and glue as well.

Step 2: Cut out your label. I used a paper cutter with a decorative edge, regular scissors or decorative edge scissors would work too!

Step 3: Peel and stick the back to your bag, or glue on if you used regular paper. (The bag I used came from Michaels Crafts, you could use whatever you have handy.) If you want a fancier bag, you can embellish with glitter or ribbons or whatever you want.

Now go get some treats!

Brag Monday - Halloween Bottles from Mamie Jane's

Woohoo! Once again it's Brag Monday! Last week nearly 20 people played along! It was so inspiring seeing what all of you did with the graphics from this site. There were so many fabulous creations. I so appreciate each and everyone of you that participated, you really made it a fun day!!
Today I'm bragging about Jane from Mamie Jane's. Last week Jane posted these wonderful Halloween bottles, using this image from right here at The Graphics Fairy. I hope you will pay Jane a visit, not only does she come up with some amazing crafts, but she has such a marvelous eye for all things vintage!

Now it's your turn! Have you made something from an image here at The Graphics Fairy that you would like to share? Don't be shy, we want to see it!! It's time to brag! You might even be featured on a future Brag Monday post. Just add a link below in the McLinky box.

Here are just a few rules:

1)Artwork/creations or projects displayed must include at least one image (up to a maximum of 4 images) from this site.

2)Add a link to your items specific blog post (in the McLinky gizmo at the bottom of this post) or page, not the main page of your site.

3)Add the "Brag Monday" button to your post. Just cut and paste the code above and add it to your post and the button should appear. (This is required and should make things more fun, so that we can all hop around and see everyone's creations!) You can also add it to your sidebar if you like.

4)Test your link and make sure it's working! If your link gets deleted, it's because you missed one of the rules, so just reread them and repost again!

5)Visit as many of the other "Braggers" ;) as you can and leave comments on their blogs. Oh, and have fun!

I'll leave the McLinky open until Wednesday night so that gives you a couple of days to put something together if you don't already have something to share!

Free Antique Clip Art - Pen Flourishing Horse with Cherub

That's right it's time for the next graphic in my newest series "Spencerian Saturday"!!! Where every Saturday I will be adding a gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book.

The original scanned version of this amazing calligraphy horse with a cheub riding on it's back, is seen just above. At the top of the page is the cleaned up version.
I also made this red version, as I thought this one would be fun to use for Christmas. It would make a great tag, you could even add a name inside of the banner! Make sure you click on the images to bring up the largest size. Enjoy!

Free Clip Art - Hooked on Victorian Painted Lady

I thought it would be fun today to participate in Hooked on Fridays from over at the Hooked on Houses blog. As long as I can remember I've always been hooked on Victorian houses, even as a child. So today I'm posting this wonderful painted Victorian lady from an early house painting guide. The guide was put out by the paint manufacturer "The National Lead Company". Obviously at the time it was not known that lead, when added to paint, is a major health hazard! Anyway, the booklet included a paint color chart in the back, so I have included the swatches in case you would want to use them as a guide for painting your own home, although I'm sure the colors have faded over time. Make sure you click on the image to see all the beautiful details. This would be so much fun to use in collage or mixed media projects, or perhaps a card for someone that's moving!

P.S. I'm also adding this to Beautiful Life Fridays at The Inspired Room, where you get to add something beautiful that you have found during the week, every Friday. I think this pretty house qualifies!

Free Antique Clip Art - Beautiful Mermaid

I always like to follow a post that included a scary or creepy image (like yesterdays Winged Bats) with something pretty so, today I'm posting this beautiful Mermaid from an antique book (circa 1880s)! I know not everyone is into Halloween so, hopefully this will make up for it!

Free Halloween Clip Art - Flying Bats

This is a marvelous early print of 3 winged bats! Not from my personal collection, but from an archived source and it is in the public domain. These would be wonderful in a Halloween collage or mixed media project. I hope you like it! Remember to click on it for the largest size!

Also I've added a pink version of the "Engraved roses on shabby wood background", to my other blog backgroundfairy.com This is a 3 column lay out, the standard lay out will be coming soon, and hopefully I will have time to work on a header to match sometime this weekend.

Free Printable - Vintage Bookplates

Today I'm offering a fun free printable of some antique bookplates!! I've made them in a couple of different colors for you. I think the green ones would be pretty in Garden books! Just click on the image to bring up the largest size. My printer setting has the option of "fit to page" if yours does too, select that option for the perfect print size, as this was made to fit an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. You could print them onto label paper and cut them out, or you could use regular printer paper and then glue them into your books. I've included the original scans below as well, the first two are very early ones, were talking Jane Austen era or earlier and the last one is from the early 1900's!
Also my friend Miss B is offering a beautiful Butterfly bookplate over at her blog Le Blah Blahg!

I wanted to thank all of you that have participated in Brag Monday!! I'm keeping Mr Linky open until Wednesday night so, if you have a project that you want to share, using an image from this site, then you still have a little time. There were so many wonderful artful creations, I have had a blast getting around to see all of them!
