Vintage Halloween Clip Art - Creepy Crawly Things

Here are a few creepy crawly things for you to use in your Halloween projects! I've included 2 versions of each in case you want to use the original sepia toned version, or the more cleaned up black and white version. Included are a Bat, hanging upside down, a Tarantula Spider, and a Copperhead Snake. All of these came out of an antique dictionary, I'm including the entire dictionary page for the Bat, in case you can use that as well.

A quick story about the Copperhead Snake. Last week one of these guys made it's way into my basement. And no we're not talking cellar here, were talking finished basement in a new home, and this guy was poised just a few yards outside of my office, and very near my son's bedroom! He was actually positioned just like this one here, and was hissing and spitting at my Corgi, who thought the Snake was just the most fun toy he had every seen! Well I don't want to get too graphic but, let's just say it didn't end well for the snake, I felt really bad about killing it, but I had to protect my pooch and, the rest of us too, and DH was at work. Anyway, I have no idea how it got in or where it came from, but I sure hope he doesn't have any friends around here, because I would really prefer not to have to deal with that again!!

XXXOOO

  1. OH MY GOSH! Snakes are my absolute, all-time, no way can I deal with this, fear! So glad it turned out well for you. We live 'out in the country' and I'm always on the lookout for them. ***shuddering just thinking about finding one in the house***

Thanks for the images but I'll let you keep the snake one LOL!

    Happy weekend!!

  3. that's so freaky! Within a week of us moving from Georgia, a friend who was doing some work on the now empty house said he walked out to the garage and found a rattle snake sitting there! If we would have still been there the snake would have been under MY car and quite possibly could have bitten me or my then 2 year old son! Scary.

  4. Glad you were able to take care of that snake...I had a similar incident with a baby rattle snake when we lived in California...I'll never forget hearing that rattle sound :-(
Thanks again for the wonderful graphics!!
Hoping to find some creative time this weekend to post something for Brag Monday.

  5. I like the spider graphic. But I don't usually like spiders because of my recent run in with a spider. :o( I love Halloween and I am so glad that I found your blog.

    Warmly,

  6. YIKES, Karen! You're a very brave girl! I guess we do what we have to do when faced with something like that, don't we?! Those are, indeed, creepy images--not a big fan of enormous, hairy spiders.

    You find the coolest stuff--thanks!

  9. Oh no! I shudder just looking at these pictures ~ imagining the real spider and snake. How scary for you! I don't know if I would have froze or reacted as you did, but I guess when you have others to think of you just act.

Absolutely! I'm honored that you want to use my project for Brag Monday.

  10. oh my gosh Karen! You were brave! Now I'm afraid of what I might find in my old, dark smelly basement! I could not have tackled that thing! EWWWW!
The graphics here are AWESOME though! Just creepy enough!
    PS...
I've always thought that Copperheads give off the smell of cucumbers....is that true?

  11. Karen, you are very brave. I would like to have you around if I'm ever confronted with a snake. My son was bitten by one. He killed that sucker, then he went to the hospital and had the venum sucked out of his leg that was 3 times the normal size.

Can I also tell you thank you for this blog. I am so excited about using this art on material for pillows and such.
