Thanks so much to all of you that left the dearest comments yesterday, in regards to my 800th post! You guys are the best!!Today I'm offering this wonderful early ephemera piece, this is another one from the "Lady's Tablet of Friendship", which is a pre-civil war autograph book. This page is a wonderful poem entitled "Night" that is done in the loveliest penmanship handwriting. I wish I could write like this!! The poem is a lot of fun to read, there is even a bit about Fairies in it! I think the title makes this graphic a great option for Halloween projects. Make sure you click on the image to bring up the largest size.

Oh, Karen--this is wonderful! I wish I could write like that, too--the penmanship is just beautiful--love the poem! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful...yes I too wish I could write this lovely! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat find. Too bad that as school kids we all tried to master penmanship, no where near as good as this, and now use computers and spell check for almost everything except greeting cards!!
ReplyDeleteThis piece is gorgeous...love the old script!! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDelete"When Heaven's lamps are all alight..." What a lovely perspective on the stars!
ReplyDeleteI know that I say this everyday, but I just love this site, and this poem is gorgeous! I think I may take up calligraphy as a hobby! Just the idea of real pens and beautiful paper makes me believe that I'm living in the wrong era!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful poem! Love the script also. Love the fairy reference. My daughters and I love to build fairy houses in the woods and this is the perfect accompaniment to my pics on the scrapbook pages. Thanks for all your lovely finds. I've probably been following your blog for almost all of those 800 posts. Keep those lovely vintage finds coming!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking! The script font or calligraphy is lovely, but the poem itself is an amazing treasure. Thank you for sharing it with us Karen:) xoxo, Paulette
